1st Purchased: 2011, $300
2nd Purchased: 2013, $85
The first one I bought was claimed to have been one of many Roland S-760s that were owned by Basil Poledouris, famed motion picture soundtrack composer. The guy I purchased it from said he got it from a friend that was Poledouris’ nephew. Poledouris’s nephew recieved it from the estate of Poledouris after his untimely death in 2006.
Despite being only 2 rack units high, this is one serious sampler. Mine is maxed out on memory at 34 MB, a SCSI connector, a mouse, and it has the video output. The video connector and the use of a mouse are what I think put Roland samplers a step above their competition in the day.
